In Memoriam

Dick Sciascia

Nearly seventy-seven years to the day after he survived the Battle of the Bulge as a Private First Class, Richard ("Dick") Salvatore Sciascia passed away at home with his wife Charlotte by his side.

After the war, Richard, or Dick as he was known to friends, built a home in the Skyland Estates community on Steps to Heaven Rd. He was active in his community throughout his life, serving as Treasurer, Vice President, and President at different times on the Skyland Community Corporation Board of Directors.  We do not have adequate words to express our thanks for his community service, or our condolences to his family.

Pete Doherty
We sadly report the death of our President, Pete Doherty, on Thursday, December 29, 2011. Pete lived on the mountain for over 20 years and was actively involved with the SCC for most of them. His contributions to our quality of life here are too numerous to mention. Pete’s friendship, sense of humor, and knack for getting the job done will be sorely missed.  His obituary can be viewed here or downloaded in pdf format.
